Prayer for a Friend

God,
I know that you have a way of surprising me.  I am asking for that now.  My friend had expectations of what was going to happen to him and they were just shattered.  He is angry and his selfishness has really kicked in and he is proud and afraid, two things that do not bode well in our human world.  Please do your work to see him through to a situation that he can accept whether it be the direction he is being asked to take or something better.  He has had a rough road of it and his life is really at stake.

Take this burden from my heart and make of it what you will.

The Third Step Prayer
from page 63 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous
God, I offer myself to Thee-
To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always!
