I am getting more and more involved in the mounting of a "One Man Show" on Crystal Meth based upon Poe Ballentine's Essay, "Methamphetamine for Dummies".  I have a great actor I think will be performing it, I have involved a super director/producer, I have a super college drama professor who also directs and adapts for the stage, I am talking with a good community theater for the possibile mounting of the workshop, I have a fall sobriety conference interested in a presentation of the piece.  Everything is falling into place with the precision only available via the intervention of HP in the process.  The recent event where I had trouble turning things over, has conditioned me to really let this go.  I am loving it.

I have some questions about a good man in the program who, I am concerned, is slowing making his way back to using again.  When I get those concerns I know they are generally about myself.  I will figure this one out and report back when I find what my inventory is all about here.  Right now I am in the dark.  

I have been overjoyed to find a couple of younger program members who have really connected with Higher Power via Zen.  They are so different because they DO take personal responsibility for themselves and don't get whiney and dramatic when faced with reversals.  Currently a few of my program friends and sponsees have elected to go back out and use and the consequences of their use is showing up in more damage and devastation in their lives.  The contrast between the centered guys and the slippers is astounding.  It is a joy to be around the centered men and very hard to be around the slipping ones. 

Today is a relaxed day and I am going to use it to work on my own 10th Step and to hear God's calling for me today and do it.  I am so blessed. 

Lesson of the Trunk

I am so strange. I am such a wimp sometimes. Gopher State Roundup was great. Kwanzaa was super. As I put the violin in the trunk, sat down in the car, the trunk warning light showed "Open". I went back to the trunk and it was locked and jammed. The strap from the violin case was not fully in the trunk and it jammed the mechanism. In the trunk was my violin and all my ID with my checkbook and all credit cards. I probably over the next day tried to unjam it with the remote, the key and the switch in the car to no avail . I kept turning it over but then would create more and more negative scenarios, very expensive repair, just not being able to get in the trunk without drilling into the trunk, etc. Over and over I would turn it over to God, and then in a minute or two, I would pick it up again. I hate doing that. One of the things I got from Gopher State was the experiences that even in sobriety, even without your own involvement, crazy or negative things would happen but just turn it over. I have heard that a million times but man, did I have a hard time doing it. I talked about it the Sunday at the Slim House meeting and shared it with program friends and sponsors. Monday morning I had a meeting with sponsee and I shared the story then. Each time I shared it I got more and more relief from picking back up the anxiety and negative speculation. After the meeting Monday morning with the sponsee I drove back home and for one final time before waiting until Tuesday and taking it into the car dealer, I tried the key. It opened. Just turn it over Bob. Whew.

I am so blessed and sometimes a program wimp.

Strange day.  I had a blast playing violin at Kwanzaa.  That is perhaps the high point of my average week.  Dewey was point on on the Keyboards.  I finished with Precious Lord and it was the key to the service.  Then I went over to Wilde Roast and spent some time knitting with the Urban Knitters.  I went home for a bit and then to my Sunday evening meeting.  I am so blessed.

God is in charge

I never get too far from evidence that God is in charge.  Yesterday Dewey Lysen and I performed for The Augustana Senior Apartments Potboilers program.  It was awesome.  This is the first time I played with Dewey outside of the weekly Kwanzaa service.  He is a dream keyboard guy.  I was blown away.  They loved it.  

I am staying very busy but actually slowing down a bit.  The last two weeks I have had a cold and it has been really aggravating and it has slowed me up a bit.  Today I have stayed in bed and am just now getting up.  

I just stand amazed at the way I see God at work in the program.  There is no getting around it.  I continue to stand amazed at the many blessings I have:

Great day at Kwanzaa and things continue to get better

Yesterday at Kwanzaa we had a play called the Ragman and here is my friend Dewey who was the Ragman. It is a grand illustration of HP in our world. As usual I had a blast jamming with the Kwanzaa Musicians.

I decided to get the extended warranty on Christa the Phaeton and I am pleased with the decision. She is very happy. I would have had to sell her without it.
